Citrine

Citrine is one of the several varieties of quartz that is used in jewelry extensively. The color of citrine varies form pale yellow to rich orangish yellow that is the most preferred and desired form.

Most of the citrines found in market are not the real thing and are heated amethyst with pale yellow color.

Citrine is typically not a very precious gemstone and large pieces with great color can be found at a great price.

Some citrines are smoky yellow in color and resemble smoky quartz. The very important characteristic that can help distinguish is the fact that citrine exhibits color zoning most of the time that is never seen in smoky quartz.
