Information on gemstones and crystals

Halite is crystalline form of sodium chloride (table salt) found abundantly in nature and exhibits several colors (besides clear and colorless halite) like blue and pink.

Halite is not used as a gemstone. It is used as a decorative stone instead and colored halite crystals are really beautiful.

Once extremely expensive, even more expensive than gold, because of very limited availability (specially in some countries) halite is now one of the cheapest substances.

Halite crystals are very water soluble and should be kept dry.
